BELLVILLE — Don’t count out the Colts just yet.
Clear Fork moved up to 15th in Region 14 in this week’s Ohio High School Athletic Association regional ratings, released Tuesday.
The Colts (3-6) rose three spots in the regional ratings thanks to last week’s win over Highland. A victory over River Valley on Friday would likely lock up a top-16 finish.
Shelby (9-0), Ontario (8-1) and Galion (6-3) already have clinched Region 14 playoff bids, according to points expert Joe Eitel. The Whippets remained in second, while Ontario held onto third after last week’s epic showdown in Shelby. Galion moved up one spot and is sixth in this week’s ratings.
In Region 10 of Division III, Lexington held firm to the No. 12 spot after a 14-7 win over Madison. The Minutemen (5-4) visit unbeaten Ashland on Friday and could seal a playoff berth — and a share of the Ohio Cardinal Conference crown — with a win.
Crestview (4-5) jumped five spots in the Region 22 ratings after last week’s critical win over playoff-bound Western Reserve (6-3). The Cougars are 15th and can earn a playoff bid with a win over Mapleton on Friday.
In Region 25 of Division VII, Lucas climbed three spots from 15th to 12th after last week’s 46-9 win over Lakota. A victory over Whiteford (Mich.) on Friday would send the Cubs to the playoffs for an 11th straight season.
Crestline slipped to 16th in Region 25 after last week’s loss to North Baltimore. The Bulldogs (4-5) need a victory over winless Vanlue and some help to reach the playoffs for the first time since 2005.
