Caryl Ann Basinger passed away Wednesday, August 14th, 2024 in Columbia, SC at the age of 89.
She was born and raised in Fairborn, OH. She graduated from The Ohio State University studying education and music. While at college, she met the love of her life Robert Basinger and shared 69 wonderful years together.
After college, she taught elementary education for several years before becoming a full-time homemaker. She had a love for music and was an accomplished pianist, which led her to play organ for her church. An avid reader, you would rarely find her without a book in her hand. She loved to play golf, tennis and enjoyed playing bridge with her friends. She learned American sign language and participated in the Mansfield Rehab Sign Choir.
After retirement, She and Bob moved to South Carolina, then Florida, where they volunteered their time at Make a Wish Foundation, and eventually back to South Carolina. They traveled extensively throughout the US and abroad.
She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Mildred Florence.
She is survived by her husband, Robert. Their three children, Becky (Mark) Shy, Randy (Lousie Burpee) Basinger, and Drew (Deb) Basinger. Grandchildren, Josh, Jeff, and Zach Shy. Will and Carly Basinger. Robby, Nicole and Jayden Basinger. She also has five great grandchildren.
She is also survived by her sister Mary (Al) Sheppard.
Her kind heart and sweet demeanor will be missed dearly.
