ASHLAND — A recent cybersecurity incident is still causing difficulties and limited services to be available on University Hospitals’ website.
According to Ansley Kelm, public and media relations manager, University Hospitals experienced the cybersecurity incident last week.
“We quickly disconnected our systems from the internet after we detected unusual activity on UH servers,” she told Ashland Source on Monday morning. “We continue to investigate the incident with outside experts and are in communication with law enforcement.”
With safetya priority, UH is working to minimize the impact on its patients, Kelm said. Some appointments and elective procedures have been rescheduled.
Significant progress was made over the weekend in restoring its systems to full operability, she said, but UH is continuing to work through challenges — which will be ongoing through the week.
Patients still cannot access MyChart. According to the UH website, patients are encouraged to reach out to their provider’s office directly regarding questions on results, appointments or other information.
“There are challenges connecting to the UH network at some locations,” Kelm said. “We are encountering problems with insurance pre-authorizations, among other issues.
“Please know we have teams of people working around the clock to address these issues. We appreciate your patience and understanding.”
University Hospitals has local locations in Ashland, Loudonville and Mansfield.
