LOUDONVILLE — The first of what will be many postseason awards arrived on Corri Vermilya’s doorstep.

Loudonville’s senior standout was selected the Mid-Buckeye Conference Player of the Year after leading the Redbirds to their eighth consecutive MBC title.

An Ashland University recruit, Vermilya recently became the only player in state history with more than 2,300 points and 1,200 rebounds. She passed Renee (Stimpert) Holt to became north central Ohio’s career scoring leader.

Vermilya was joined on the All-MBC first team by Loudonville teammates Mya Vermilya — Corri’s younger sister — Sophia Spangler and Jena Guilliams. Other first-team picks were Mansfield Christian’s Kyleah Jones and Kidron Central Christian’s Maclaren Fry.

Mansfield Christian’s Raegan Stanbridge and Zy Davis were second-team picks, along with Loudonville’s Addison Wolford, Crestline’s Joclyn Noblit and Kennedi Sipes and KCC’s Saralyn Stjernholm.

Honorable-mention picks included Lucas’ Katie Griffey and Olivia Brown, Mansfield Christian’s Bailee Nelson, Crestline’s Jacelynn Miller and Kidron Central Christian’s Sommer Shue.

Loudonville’s Tyler Bates was selected the MBC Coach of the Year.
