Helen Rosemary Prosser, age 83, of Galion, a beloved Mom, Granny, Sister, Aunt and Friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday November 29, 2023, at her home in Galion. Helen was born on December 18, 1939, in Vanceburg, Kentucky, to the late George and Lula (Miller) Stratton.

Helen had a vibrant spirit that touched the lives of many. She had an extraordinary career as a bartender, working at VFW Post 2920 and Crokies in Crestline. Her love for others, warm smile, friendly demeanor, and exceptional ability to connect with people made her a cherished member of her family and the community.

Those that had the pleasure of knowing Helen knew that they were loved unconditionally. She was always caring towards others and often would put their needs before her own. Helen enjoyed spending her time playing cards, either a game of poker or euchre. She was known for never folding or backing down.

She is survived by her loving children; Cindy Wolfel of Galion, Crystal (Terry) Wilcox of Galion, Paula (Phil) Alden of Green Camp, Laura (Jerry) Burgan of Sun City, AZ, Paul (Conni) Prosser of Galion, Billy (Christa) Prosser of Galion, Jack (Kim) Prosser of Galion, Judy (Jesse) Moore of Bellville, Joyce (Jim) Lewis of Galion, and Debbie (Larry) Austin of Mansfield, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren along with her sisters; Catherine Atkinson of Bucyrus and Bonnie Camp of Franklin, GA and her son-in-law, John Hoffman of Galion and daughter-in-law, Kyle Prosser of Galion. Helen will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

In addition to her late husbands, Paul Prosser, and William Prosser, she is preceded in death by her children; Steve Prosser, Ronnie Hoffman, Dreama Easterly, siblings; John Stratton, Bob Stratton, George Stratton, Bill Stratton, Leroy Stratton, and Ethel Crokie.

Friends may call on Thursday December 7, 2023, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way North, Galion. A Funeral Service to honor Helen’s life will be held on Friday December 8, 2023, at 11:00am at Mark A. Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home with Brother Dave Mahon officiating.
Burial will immediately follow at Fairview Cemetery.

The family asks that memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) or Hospice of North Central Ohio in care of the funeral home.
