BERLIN TOWNSHIP — Two motorcycles collided, killing both drivers in a Friday night crash in Berlin Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Jay M. Lucal, 48, of Monroeville, and James A. Ogle, 53, of Collins, both sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and were transported to Toft’s Funeral Home in Berlin Heights, the Patrol reported.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a double fatal motorcycle crash that occurred at approximately 10:18 p.m. on State Route 113 near mile marker 15 in Erie County.

Lucal was operating a 2004 Harley-Davidson. Ogle was operating a 1997 Harley-Davidson. Both motorcycles were westbound on State Route 113. Both units collided while traveling next to each other and were thrown from their motorcycles, the Patrol reported.

Neither driver was wearing a helmet, the Patrol stated. Both men were pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to the Patrol, drugs appear to be a factor in the crash.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Berlin Heights Fire, North Central EMS, Citizens EMS, Erie County Sheriff’s Office, Foster’s Towing, and Toft’s Funeral Home.
