COLUMBUS – A man sought in a May 17 road rage incident in Norton was arrested Wednesday afternoon by members of the Southern Ohio Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (SOFAST) and the Columbus Police Department’s SWAT Team.

The Norton Police Department identified Dacarrei Tovon Kinard, 30, in connection with the incident and an arrest warrant was issued for him Wednesday morning.

Kinard was wanted for the May 17 road rage homicide where George Jenson, 40, was shot and killed. The shooting occurred during daylight hours on Interstate 76 in Norton.

“The Norton Police Department worked nonstop to gather information, follow up on tips from the public, and ultimately make an identification for this suspect,” said Pete Elliott, of the Northern Ohio U.S. Marshals Service.

After the warrant for Kinard’s arrest was issued this morning, Norton Police, who are members of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) worked together to quickly get information to Columbus, where Kinard was suspected to be living.

SOFAST and the Columbus Police Department immediately responded to the area of 1400 Livingston Court in Columbus and took Kinard into custody without incident.

“Swift work by our team and the Columbus Police Department’s SWAT Team ensures the safety of not only the communities in and around Columbus but across the entire state of Ohio,” said Southern Ohio U.S. Marshal Michael Black.
