MANSFIELD — A 14-1 third-quarter run helped Mansfield Senior overcome a second-half deficit to spill Madison 58-50 on Friday night at Pete Henry Gym.

Karion Lindsay posted 15 points and Rashad Reed added 11 to help the Tygers pocket this Ohio Cardinal Conference victory. Kyevi Roane grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.

Madison’s Jaden Jeffries led the Rams with 19 points and seven rebounds, while freshman Seven Allen chipped in 13 points, five rebounds and three assists, but it wasn’t enough.

Senior High forged a 12-11 first-quarter edge, and nosed in front 24-21 at the half. But Madison opened the second half with a 10-2 burst to grab a 31-26 advantage on Allen’s trey with 5:05 showing in the period.

That’s when the Tygers roared to life, scoring 14 of the next 15 points, and eventually taking a 40-35 margin to the final quarter. Jeffries tied the game on a traditional three-point play with 5:13 remaining, but Senior High spurted again, this time on a 10-1 spree to put the game away.

Coach Marquis Sykes’ squad made 23-of-50 field goals for 46-percent shooting and Mansfield Senior’s bench outscored their arch-rivals 24-6.

Madison made 10-of-20 treys, but the Rams were just 8-of-35 inside the arc, 23 percent.

The Tygers improved to 12-6 overall, 8-2 in the OCC. Mansfield Senior has won four of its past five games will host Sandusky on Saturday night.

The Rams dropped to 9-10 overall, 4-7 in the OCC and host West Holmes next Friday night.
