MANSFIELD — Mansfield Senior got back to its winning ways with an emphatic, 76-50 Ohio Cardinal Conference victory over Wooster on Friday night at Pete Henry Gym.

The Tygers (8-4 overall, 5-1 in the OCC) had lost two straight and three of their past four, but rebounded in resounding fashion in this one.

Sophomore Kyevi Roane posted 17 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists, while Elias Owens added 16 points and six rebounds. The Tygers blistered the nets with 51 percent shooting (making 29 of 57 field goals) and 10 players reached the scoring column.

Senior High roared to a 17-7 first-quarter lead and opened a 43-18 halftime bulge. Coach Marquis Sykes’ squad cruised to a 57-39 advantage heading to the final period and cruised home.

Mansfield Senior boasted a 36-32 rebounding advantage and forced 15 Wooster turnovers while committing only 10.

Caleb Scott topped the Generals with 12 points, while Blake Bowen added 11 and Brady Bowen had 10. Senior High’s defense limited the Generals to just 27-percent shooting (17-of-62 shooting), including an 11-of-40 showing behind the 3-point line. 

Wooster (6-9, 3-4) has lost six straight games and will play at Ashland on Tuesday.

The Tygers return to action Saturday night at Columbus Ready.
