A front of warm weather is on its way to Ohio, reaching the mid 50s with clear skies by Thanksgiving before rain washes it all away by Black Friday.
The National Weather Service has forecasted sunny, clear skies with a high of 56 for the region on Thanksgiving.
Rain will move in starting early Friday morning, with a high of 48. The chance of precipitation is 40%, according to the NWS.
We’ll get a brief pause from the rain later Friday and early Saturday, but NWS predicts it will return with a 30% chance of showers starting after 1 p.m.
The rain is expected to increase later Saturday heading into Sunday, when the high expected to be 47.
Temperatures on Thanksgiving this year will be warmer than last year. According to historical NWS data, the average temperature around Ohio on Thanksgiving Day in 2021 was 42.
The last time it snowed on Thanksgiving Day was in 2014, when about an inch of accumulation. The record snowfall belongs to 1929, when two inches fell.
Although this year’s Thanksgiving Day will be warmer than most, it’s not the warmest. That record was set in 1973, when the high that day reached 63 degrees.
The coldest Thanksgiving Day in the Mansfield area was in 1979, when temps dipped to 29.
