MANSFIELD — When the photographer took this picture in the summertime more than 100 years ago, he was standing in the spacious lawn of the estate surrounding Oak Hill Cottage.

Today, the same camera angle places the lens across the intersection of two streets that didn’t exist in 1910, and the many acres of the Jones Family lawn is rather severely abbreviated to a few short yards off the front porch.

Then & Now: Oak Hill Cottage

Outside the house the scenery of the world has become something very different from that of 100 years ago. Yet inside of the Jones’ front door the scene you’ll find is very nearly identical to how it appeared back then.

Walking through the front door is an amazing step back into another time. Oak Hill Cottage is open for visitors Sundays 2 to 5 p.m. April through December.
