Marilyn Gay (Dillon) Losch, of Lexington, passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022 in the Cleveland Clinic.

She was born on August 11, 1942 in Muncie, Indiana to Roy Reed Dillon and Dovie Mabel (Atkins) Dillon. She was raised in Muncie and graduated from Royerton (Delta) High School in 1960 and Ball State Teachers College in 1963 with a degree in home economics education and then a Masters Degree from Ball State University in Elementary education in 1973.

She married the love of her life, John William Losch, on June 21, 1963 in Eaton, Indiana at the First Church of God. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage together.

She was employed by Eastern Howard School Corporation to teach vocational home economics for her first year of teaching. Subsequent to that she taught Home Economics at Marion City Schools. Then, she and John moved their family to Lexington, Ohio and Marilyn taught vocational home economics at Mansfield Senior High, Malabar High School, and Malabar Middle School. She was able to retire in 2008 as an elementary language arts teacher from Malabar Middle School. When she was teaching students in her home economics classes she used to teach them how to make the perfect pie and she estimated that she made 100s (we think probably 1000s) of pies over the years. In her language arts classes, she used word searches to help enlarge the students’ vocabulary. Mom was a wonderful cook with many homemade meals over the years – our favorites being Sloppy Joes, mashed potatoes, yeast rolls, pea salad, no bake cookies and cherry pie. She also loved flower arranging and made the softest, silk-edged “Nana blankets” around!

Marilyn was an accomplished pianist and organist who received the gift from the Lord when she was young and never had a formal piano lesson. She played for many churches, mainly Park Avenue First Church of God (now Avenue Church) and Mansfield First Alliance Church (now MAC) on most Sunday mornings and Sunday nights. She played for weddings, funerals, and famous gospel musicians with highlights being accompanying Ron & Carolyn Patty.

Marilyn is survived by her husband, John W. Losch of Lexington, Ohio and her three children: Roy (Deb) Losch of Anderson, IN, Gaylene (Jason) Hayden of Lafayette, IN, and Jaena (Tony) Newman of Lexington, Ohio. She also has 7 surviving grandchildren: Tyler, Ethan, & Emma Losch, Olivia & Carter Newman, and Miriam & Ezra Hayden.

She is preceded in death by her parents Roy & Mabel Dillon and her sister Patricia Blair.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 17, 2022 from 4 pm – 7 pm in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where her funeral service will be Friday at 11 am. Pastor Cory Schnuerer will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery.
