SHELBY — The Shelby Foundation is proud to announce the awarding of more than
$111,000 in scholarships this year, continuing its commitment to expanding educational opportunities and investing in students’ futures.

For the Shelby High School Class of 2026, the Foundation awarded $95,500 through 30 scholarship funds. In total, 48 scholarships were awarded to 22 graduating seniors pursuing a wide variety of educational and career paths.

This year, the Foundation also expanded its scholarship reach by awarding an additional $16,000 to students from five surrounding school districts: Carrollton, Clear Fork, Crestline, Lexington, and Minerva. The expansion reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for students while honoring the wishes and legacies of local donors who believe in the power of education.

The Foundation also established two new scholarship funds this year: the Gary A. Cole Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Fitzpatrick Miami University Scholarship Fund. These funds will continue supporting students for years to come while honoring the lives, values, and generosity of their namesakes.

“The impact of these scholarships goes far beyond financial assistance,” said Carrie Kemerer, executive director of The Shelby Foundation.

“Each scholarship represents someone in our community choosing to invest in the next generation. We are proud to help connect that generosity with students pursuing their goals and building brighter futures.”

The Foundation administers a growing number of scholarship funds that support higher education, career training, and professional development opportunities. Established by individuals, families, businesses, and organizations, these funds create lasting impact through education and community investment.

The Foundation currently stewards more than 70 funds dedicated to scholarships, grants, community needs, and long-term improvement initiatives.
