Anton “Tony” M. Brenner, 87, of Shelby passed away unexpectedly March 4, 2022 at Avita Ontario Hospital.

Tony was born July 19, 1934 to Anton and Ida Endres Brenner in Lauingen, Germany. He attended the German Vocational Apprenticeship program and became a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker. He legally immigrated to the United States via Canada in 1956 and eventually taking up residence in the Richland County Ohio area. He became a US citizen and was a Veteran of the United States Army. While still in Germany he had met his future wife Eleonore Wittman and traveled back to Germany so they could be married on June 21, 1958. He worked as a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker and retired from General Motors after 33 years. Tony and Eleonore founded the American Tool & Mfg. Co. in Mansfield in 1967 as a family business, he served as President and remained involved with until recently.

Tony was an enthusiastic worldwide traveler, visiting over 30 countries and almost every state in the United States. After receiving a small herd of Scottish Highland Cattle for his 60th birthday, they became his favorite hobby along with being an avid tractor and gun collector.

Tony is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eleonore Brenner; children Arlene Brenner, Myron Brenner, both of Mansfield, and Dr. Annette (Steve Strasser) Brenner of Honeoye Falls, New York; brother Albert Brenner; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Rosemarie Geis, and infant son Raymond Brenner.

Services will be private, but there will a celebration of Tony’s life in the future.
