Wayne F. Sutter, age 87, of Shelby, died surrounded by his family at his home on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022 following a brief illness.
Wayne was born Sept. 17, 1934 in Shelby to the late Leo and Rose (Bucholtz) Sutter.
He was a 1952 graduate of Shelby High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean War. Wayne worked 32 years as an electrician at General Motors in Ontario retiring in 1992.
As hobbies, Wayne was always tinkering, enjoyed making homemade wine, and was constantly watching and investing in the stock market. He also enjoyed playing cards, especially at the Shelby American Legion O’Brien Post #326, where he was a member. Wayne, along with his wife, Donna, loved traveling and going to casinos. He was also a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church.
On June 22, 1963 Wayne married Donna M. (Heydinger) Sutter and she survives. Also surviving are four children: Steve (Mary) Sutter of Mansfield, Terry (Shari) Sutter of Powell, Michelle (Howard) Eisenhardt of Poolesville, MD, and Francine (James) Childress of Ford, VA; seven grandchildren: Erica (Blake) Damron, Erin (Casey) Weddle, Gunnar (Jessie) Sutter, Elizabeth Sutter, Adam Eisenhardt, Sydney Childress, and Carson Childress; seven great grandchildren: Adilyn, Isabella, Cade, Cal, Dawsyn, Wyatt, and Tyson; brother: Leo (Fran) Sutter; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his siblings: Glenn Sutter, Thelma Jackson, Joan Wells, and Kenny Sutter.
Family and friends are welcome on Monday, Jan. 31, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Penwell Turner Funeral Home, 168 West Main Street, Shelby. Wayne’s funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 29 West Street, Shelby, Ohio 44875.
Fr. Chris Mileski will celebrate the Mass and burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
