Kevin Dillon, the Man, the Myth, the Legend, age 57 of Mansfield, peacefully passed away after a month-long illness at Ohio Health Mansfield on Sunday, Jan. 23, surrounded by his family.
Kevin was born in Mansfield on March 6, 1964 to Betty and Ray Dillon, and graduated from St. Peter’s High School, Class of 1982. He was self-employed at Dillon’s Automotive for the past 35 years.
He had such an infectious laugh that was sure to get the whole room laughing. Kevin and Lisa spent their summer weekends at the races, swap meets and car shows. Kevin had three, restored, classic cars that he loved to show.
He was a devoted brother, beloved partner, uncle, mechanic and friend to all those whose life he touched. Although his family was not prepared for his departure, they know his angel wings were ready. Kevin was received by many friends and family at the gates of heaven.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Raymond E. Dillon (March 8, 1982), mother, Betty Dillon Fruehstorfer (Jan. 20, 2017), grandparents, Herbert and Kathleen Dillon, Lawrence and Minnie Long and favorite aunt and godmother, Millie Aukerman.
Kevin is survived by four sisters, Angela Dillon, Annette Ferrell, Elaine (Tom) Frisk, and Julie (Mark) Mills; Lisa Rush, his beloved companion of 25 years along with Lisa’s daughters, Reva and Raven; nieces and nephews Lindy (Scott) Hammer, Jason Frisk, Chelsey and Alyssa Mills, Doug and Matt Ferrell; great nieces and nephews Aiden, Isaac, Claire, Laney, and Jaxon Hammer, Kennedy Jackson and Gryphon Frisk; observant neighbor and friend, Chris Signoracci; and numerous cousins, including the Kleshinski clan in Ohio and the Riney clan in Kentucky.
We are grateful for the dedicated and hard-working doctors, nurses and staff in the COVID ICU at Ohio Health for their professional and compassionate care while he was under their care.
The family will receive friends and family on Friday, January 28th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Herlihy Funeral Home 173 Park Ave West. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday Jan. 29 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 60 S. Mulberry St. with Fr. John Miller officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family encourages donations, in Kevin’s name, to the Humane Society of Richland County or The Msgr. Dunn Foundation for Education at St. Peter’s.
