MANSFIELD — Due to the Easter weekend falling at the beginning of the month, the Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment held its monthly promotion testing on April 11.

The adjusted schedule ensured that students and families could fully participate at the 44 W. Fourth St. facility, while honoring the holiday.

In the absence of Sensei Reneta Music, the promotion test was led by Sensei Amber Bogner, who demonstrated strong leadership and commitment to the academy’s standards.

She was supported by Grandmaster Gary Music, whose presence reinforced the tradition, discipline and excellence expected during testing.

Students were evaluated on their techniques, forms, focus, and adherence to the academy’s core virtues: perseverance, integrity, indomitable spirit, courtesy, and self-control. Throughout the testing, students showed growth in both skill and confidence, reflecting their dedication to their training.

At the conclusion of the event, several students were recognized with stripes, marking important progress along their martial arts journey. Each stripe represents not only technical improvement but also personal development and consistency in practice.

The academy also proudly recognized Kanan Herner as the new “Student of the Month.” This honor is awarded to a student who exemplifies the academy’s values both on and off the mat. Herner’s effort, attitude, and commitment set a strong example for fellow students.

The April promotion highlighted the resilience and unity of the academy, with leadership stepping up and students rising to the occasion. The Music Academy of Karate and Empowerment continues to build strong karate students and even stronger individuals within the community.
