MANSFIELD — Mid-Ohio Civic Opera is getting started again after COVID-19 with its community chorus, according to Director Joel Vega.

Vega said the chorus is set to begin rehearsals Thursday, July 8, for the group’s Sept. 3 concert — Mozart’s “Great” Mass in C minor.

He said rehearsals are open to the public and he encourages residents to attend. Music will be provided.

Vega said rehearsals will be on Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 104 W. 1st St., in the main sanctuary.

The performance is Friday, Sept. 3 at 8 p.m., on the south lawn of the Kingwood Center Gardens. Admission is only the $5 for non-Kingwood members, and is free for members.

“Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the soloists, chorus, and our own opera orchestra! Mozart himself might also make an appearance,” Vega said.
