SHELBY – Pioneer Career and Technology Center recently inducted 15 students into the Pioneer CTC chapter of National Technical Honor Society (NTHS).

The new inductees are Shelby Baker (Ontario High School, Senior Medical Technologies), Vincent Cope (Lexington High School, Senior Media Communications), Jillian Ericsson (Home Schooled, Senior Collision Repair), Jocelyn Hunter (Ontario High School, Senior Dental Assisting), Katrina Lewis (Ontario High School, Senior Dental Assisting), Mason Niese (Shelby High School, Senior Media Communications), Carter Underwood (Ontario High School, Senior Performing Arts), Rachel Weyant (Crestline High School, Senior Medical Technologies), Zavier Alterio (Lexington High School, Junior Performing Arts), Ken Chang (Ontario High School, Junior Exercise Science/Sports Medicine), Abigail Crager (Galion High School, Junior Horticulture), Gavin Hull (Ontario High School, Junior Performing Arts), Claire Skoog (Lexington High School, Junior Dental Assisting), Faith Taylor (Northmor High School, Junior Industrial Electricity), and Nicholas Teglovic (Colonel Crawford High School, Junior Homeland Security).

Requirements for membership include being a full-time Pioneer student, 3.25 or higher overall GPA and a 4.0 or higher GPA in your career-tech lab, being active in at least one Career Technical Student Organization, civic or service organization or another activity beyond the school day, as well as attendance and discipline requirements.

For over 30 years, NTHS has been the acknowledged leader in the recognition of outstanding student achievement in career and technical education. Through Pioneer’s Strategic Planning Committee, the recommendation was made to create a chapter of NTHS. Pioneer’s first NTHS Induction was held March 18, 2019 as part of our 50th anniversary celebration.
