ASHLAND COUNTY — The Ashland Post of the Ohio Highway State Patrol is investigating a serious-injury crash that occurred on I-71 southbound near mile post 184 on Saturday at 3:58 a.m. in Montgomery Township.
A 2017 Hyundai Accent was southbound on I-71when it drove into the center median, striking a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox, which was parked on the left shoulder, troopers said.
The driver of the Hyundai, Alexsa Christa Rae Smedly, 22, from Cleveland, sustained serious injuries.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Dabree S. Anderson, 35, from Columbus, sustained possible serious injuries.
An occupant of the Chevrolet, Jaqual Monae Snelling, 29, also of Columbus, sustained serious injuries.
All three were transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital via ambulance.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the crash scene by Ashland Fire and EMS and Mifflin EMS.
Impairment appears to be a factor in the crash, according to the patrol. The crash remains under investigation.
