MOUNT VERNON — For the second time in four days Mansfield Senior toppled Mount Vernon by double digits in an Ohio Cardinal Conference boys basketball clash.
Coach Marquis Sykes saw his team overcome a first-quarter deficit to earn a 65-51 road win and improve to 5-4 overall, 3-2 in the Ohio Cardinal Conference.
Senior High pounced on the Yellow Jackets 51-38 on Tuesday night at Pete Henry Gym. This was the return matchup.
Shad Creamer led the way with 21 points, while Maurice Ware added 17 and Chunky Haney added 14 points for the Tygers.
Mount Vernon led 17-15 after the first quarter, but Senior High rallied for a 33-27 halftime edge, then opened a 49-38 margin heading to the final eight minutes.
Blake Meyer paced Mount Vernon with 21 points, Hudson Rohler had 14 and Alex Reddy eight.
Senior High is back in action on Saturday afternoon. Sandusky tips off with the Tygers at 3 p.m. in a varsity-only contest scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
