MANSFIELD — No injuries were reported Thursday evening during a small plane crash in Richland County, according to the Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
A 1977 Piper Lycoming, fixed-wing single-engine aircraft lost power at 7:58 p.m., piloted by Christopher Lyons, 36, of Coolville.
Troopers said Lyons was able to maneuver the plan to a cornfield near Huntsman and Algire roads, sliding the plane onto the ground. Lyons and a 16-year-old female passenger both escaped injury, troopers said.
The FAA was notified and will complete an investigation into the crash, troopers said.
Perry Township fire and EMS units assisted at the scene, troopers said.
