MANSFIELD — The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a press release warning of high winds in the region.
What to expect:
A strong cold front will move east across Northeast Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania later this afternoon and evening. A line of thunderstorms are expected to develop just west of I-71, along and just ahead of the cold front.
The primary threat comes from damaging wind gusts of up to 60 mph. Isolated pockets of hail up to 1 inch are also possible with the strongest storms. The strongest storms will be found generally along and east of I-71 in the slight risk (yellow colored) area.
Localized flash flooding is also possible with these storms that repeat over the same areas.
Timing:
The threat for severe storms will begin around noon Friday and persist through around 6 p.m. as the cold front moves east across the area.
