WOOSTER — The Wayne County Health Department has reported 20 cases of COVID-19 and five deaths at a Wooster nursing home, according to a Friday press release. 

The multiple cases of COVID-19 are a mixture of both positive confirmed and probable cases of at Glendora Nursing Home, 1552 North Honeytown Road in Wooster.

Of the affected, 10 are reportedly residents and 10 are reportedly staff members. All five deaths were residents. 

The Wayne County Heath Department is working with the nursing home to identify close contacts and to quarantine those at risk, according to the release. 

The health department has done and will continue to do the required reporting to the Ohio Department of Health as the state department of health licenses long term care facilities, the release continued. 

“This is an extremely unfortunate situation and certainly our sympathies are with the deceased’ family and friends. We will continue to work with the nursing home and work on preventing further cases and deaths,” said Wayne County Health Commissioner Nicholas Cascarelli. “Nursing Homes have been hot spots for this potentially deadly disease.

For respect of the families impacted, no names or further information will be released at this time, the press release said.
