MANSFIELD — Mansfield Senior used an 11-0 burst in the first half to move on top and eventually pulled away to beat Ontario 70-56 on Saturday night at Pete Henry Gym.
Shad Creamer pumped in 22 points to lead four Tygers in double figures. Roger Merrell III had 17 points, senior Cameron Todd added 13 and Davin Brown knocked in 10.
Shaquan Coburn paced the Warriors with 14 points, Kolten Kurtz had 13 points, Amil Upchurch chipped in 10 and Griffin Shaver notched eight points.
Mansfield Senior outrebounded Ontario 31-21, and outshot the visitors from distance, canning 8-of-17 treys, while the Warriors were limited to 3-of-11 shooting from distance. Ontario suffered 14 turnovers and managed just 4 assists.
The teams dueled to a 14-14 first-quarter tie before coach Marquis Sykes’ squad moved in front 30-25 at halftime. The Tygers led 48-42 heading to the final eight minutes and rolled in the fourth period.
Senior High (9-11) hosts Shelby on Tuesday. Ontario (15-6) hosts Madison on Friday.
