LEXINGTON — Lexington pushed Wooster to the brink and eventually overtime on Friday night, but fell just short in a 70-67 Ohio Cardinal Conference loss.

Guard Dylan Spears topped the Minutemen by pouring in 27 points. Max Waldruf registered 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Kaden Berry added 13 points and six rebounds and Danny Shaffer posted 10 points and four assists.

The Minutemen raced to a 15-8 first-quarter lead, before the Generals responded to pull within 31-30 at halftime. Wooster moved on top 43-39 by the end of the third period. The two squads tied at 57-57 at the end of regulation, but the Generals outscored Lexington 13-10 in overtime to clinch the victory.

Erza McKee pumped in 22 points to pace Wooster, and teammates Reece Mitchell and Owen Roach chipped in 14 and 10 points, respectively.

The Minutemen outrebounded the OCC leaders 35-28, but were outscored by a whopping 22-5 count at the free-throw line.

The Generals improved to 11-1 overall, 7-0 in the conferene and opened a two-game lead over Lexington. The Minutemen are 8-5, 5-2 and travel to West Holmes on Friday night.
