MANSFIELD — The talented local youth who make up the Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra will give their spring performance entitled “Spring Sounds at the Symphony” at the Renaissance Theatre under the direction of Randy Heidlebaugh on Sunday, May 5, 2018 at 3:30 p.m.

The concert will feature the winners of the Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition, violinist Alexandra Wasylenki (St. Peters HS) performing Scene de Ballet for Violin and Orchestra by Charles Auguste de Bériot, and pianist Brianna McFadden (Mansfield Christian HS) performing Piano Concert in A minor, Mvt. 1 by Edward Grieg. Other selections on the concert include Fanfare for the Common Man (Copeland), Rhosymedre (Vaughn Williams), Highlights from Jurassic Park (Williams), Gershwin by George! (Gershwin), and Raymond Overture (Thomas).

Mansfield Symphony Youth Orchestra performances are presented as part of the Mechanics Bank Education Series with additional support from the Russell and Mary Gimbel Foundation.

This season’s youth orchestra is primarily made of students from a 12-county region representing the following schools: Ashland, Clearfork, Colonel Crawford, Galion, Home School, Lexington, Mansfield St. Peter’s, Mapleton, Mount Vernon, Ontario, River Valley, Willard Intermediate, Wooster, and Wynford.
