MANSFIELD — There will be a Holocaust Memorial Service on May 5 at 3 p.m. at the Emanuel Jacob Congregation in Mansfield.

Mansfield mayor Tim Theaker, the Richland County Commissioners, students, clergy and the public are invited to the event at 973 Larchwood Road.

“This spirit of community and celebration of diversity is a heart-warming statement on behalf of the Mansfield community,” said Mindy Duffner, the event’s publicist.

The featured speaker this year is Aimee Ross, an award-winning educator and writer who’s in her 27th  year of teaching high school English at her alma mater in Loudonville.

“She created an elective course on the Holocaust in 1997 and taught it with much success for almost 20 years,” Duffner said. “Her passion for learning and teaching about the Holocaust has led to fellowships and study tours of Germany, Poland (twice), and Israel.

“She has not only published study guides and lessons about the Holocaust, but she has also made numerous presentations, both nationally and internationally, on Holocaust education.”

Her address will center on the importance of continuing to teach the lessons of the Holocaust around the world.

“Aimee wants to share what she has learned over the past 20 years teaching others about the Holocaust as a non-Jew,” Duffner said

The event is on Sunday, May 5 th at 3:00 pm at Emanuel Jacob Congregation, 973

Larchwood Road, Mansfield, OH 44907. This interfaith service is approximately

an hour long. There will be a reception after the service and an opportunity to meet

and speak to Aimee.
