MANSFIELD — Lexington resident Ray Collier, moved from Cleveland to Mansfield after a restaurant venture there didn’t work out. But now Collier and his partner, Starletta Cole are celebrating their Mansfield-based restaurant’s first anniversary.

The Scratch House Restaurant and Catering opened at 777 Lexington Ave. on March 5, 2018 to serve all-day breakfast and has since grown to include a variety of lunch options, too.

“I wanted to take all that I’ve learned out there and bring it to one area, where you can come to one building and find different items. We don’t just stick to one specific menu like barbecue,” Collier said.

Recently the restaurant added new lunch items to its menu in addition to other popular dishes including shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles and a cheddar BBQ bacon sandwich. At breakfast, the sausage gravy and biscuits and specialty french toast and waffle sandwiches are popular.

“We can make anything. We can do anything, so long as it’s a from-scratch recipe,” Collier said.

It’s important to him to know where all his ingredients come from.

Collier has more than two decades of cooking experience. He’s worked at several chains in the past, but believes strongly in his own cooking.

Scratch House also features event space and catering options.

The restaurant is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. It’s closed Monday and Tuesday.

Starting April 15, the hours will change to 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Sunday.
