Payless to close its U.S. locations, including Ontario location

MANSFIELD — Payless ShoeSource will begin liquidation of its United States and Puerto Rico locations as early as Sunday, according to a company spokesperson.

The closures will include its store at 701 N. Lexington-Springmill Rd. in Ontario.

The company expects most stores to remain open until at least the end of March. The majority will remain open until May. Payless will also begin winding down its e-commerce operations Sunday.

This process does not affect the company’s franchise operations or its Latin American stores, which remain open for business as usual, according to the spokesperson. 

Saturday morning, a manager at Ontario’s store confirmed that the location is “corporate-owned.” She declined to comment further.
