GALION — The Galion City School District Board of Education accepted donations from several local organizations during Tuesday night’s meeting.

The board approved recommendations to accept the following donations: $4,153.22 from Crawford County Partnership for Education and Economic Development for Leader In Me, Mentor Program and Junior Day; $400 from VFW Post #4329 in Galion for Memorial Day Activities to support the Galion High School Band and Galion High School Show Tunes; $500 from the Galion Kiwanis for the annual Spring Track Meet; $1,390.00 from the Crawford County Community Foundation for field trips for Galion Primary to Little Buckeye Museum and Mr. Stepro’s class to Ohio Historical Society; and $5,000 from the Galion Booster Club for athletic field maintenance for the district.

“The support for our students, staff and district from this community is tremendous,” Galion Superintendent Jim Grubbs said. “These donations, like the countless others accepted by the board, allow our staff and administrators the ability to extend educational opportunities for Galion students well beyond on the four walls of the classroom.”

The board approved contracts for certified and classified positions in the district. They also approved contracts for extra-duty assignments for district and building-level leadership positions and athletic extra-duty contracts.

The board recessed to executive session with no additional action being taken. The next regular meeting of the Galion City School District will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Galion Middle School Computer Lab Tuesday, July 17.
