MANSFIELD — Gorman-Rupp, a leading manufacturer of pumps and pumping equipment, has promoted Scott King to the position of Corporate Vice President – Operations effective March 1, 2018.
In this capacity, King will take on management responsibility for both the Gorman-Rupp Pumps Group (which consists of Gorman-Rupp USA, Gorman-Rupp Canada, Gorman-Rupp Europe and Gorman-Rupp Africa) and the Custom Pumps Group, (which consists of Gorman-Rupp Industries and AMT Pump Company).
King has 13 years of experience with Gorman-Rupp. Most recently, he was serving as Corporate Vice President. Previous positions with the Company include Vice President and General Manager of Gorman-Rupp USA, Vice President of Operations, Director of Manufacturing and Manufacturing Manager.
King holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
King, who resides in Ontario, is very active in the Richland County Community and is currently serving on the Executive Committee for the Regional Manufacturing Coalition, and was recently elected to the Board of Directors for the Hydraulic Institute. In addition, he is the President-elect of the Rotary Club.
The company also announced the promotion of Brigette A. Burnell as Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary effective Feb. 22, 2018. In this capacity, Burnell will oversee responsibilities of Human Resources for the Corporation, in addition to her legal duties.
Burnell has more than four years of experience with Gorman-Rupp, having most recently served in the capacity of General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.
Burnell previously served as Corporate Counsel of Red Capital Group from 2011 to 2013 advising the company on legal matters in all areas of business. She served as an Associate at the law firm of Jones Day from 2002 to 2011 in their Columbus, Ohio and Hong Kong, China offices.
Burnell graduated from The Ohio State University in 2002 with a Juris Doctorate and a Masters in Business Administration. She received her Bachelor of Science from MIT in 1998.
She is a 1993 graduate of Ontario High School and currently resides in Lexington.
Gorman-Rupp also announced the promotion of Barbara Woodman as Vice President, Human Resources effective March 1, 2018. In this capacity, she will lead corporate human resource operations for Gorman-Rupp, in addition to assisting the divisional human resource departments.
Woodman has 3.5 years of experience with Gorman-Rupp. Most recently she was serving as Director, Human Resources. Woodman previously served as Human Resource Manager for National Pump Company, a subsidiary of Gorman-Rupp, from 2013 to 2014. Prior to that she held the position of Human Resources/Administrative Business Partner from 2006 to 2013 with Sunstate Equipment Company.
Woodman holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Governors State University. She resides in Nova with her husband and is currently a Board Member of the GROhio Credit Union.
Gorman-Rupp also announced the promotion of Jim Kerr to Vice President, and Chief Financial Officer effective Feb. 22, 2018. In this capacity, Kerr will oversee responsibilities for Information Technologies for the Corporation, in addition to his financial duties.
Kerr most recently has served in the position of Chief Financial Officer since January 2017. He joined the company in July 2016, as Vice President of Finance. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Jo-Ann Stores, Inc. where he was employed for 17 years.
Prior to Jo-Ann, Kerr served in various financial leadership positions with several companies, primarily in the consumer products sector. Prior to that he had experience in public accounting as an Audit Manager with Arthur Andersen & Co. Kerr has a Bachelor’s Degree from Baldwin Wallace University.
