MANSFIELD — A representative from Congressman Bob Gibbs’ office will be at the Richland County Veterans Service Commission Office from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22 for a recording session of the Library of Congress’ Veterans History Project (VHP).

The VHP collects and preserves the personal stories of American war veterans.

Volunteers will be on hand to welcome veterans and record their stories for inclusion in the Veterans History Project. Veterans can schedule an interview by calling Congressman Gibbs’ Ashland Office at 419-207-0560.

The Richland County Veterans Service Commission Office is located at 597 Park Ave East, Mansfield.

So many veterans have a unique story to tell about their time in the Armed Forces, whether it’s a funny story from basic training, a touching memory about a fellow service member, or the experience of coming home after combat. The Veterans History Project gives them the opportunity to teach history from their perspective. VHP interviews are expected to last at least 30 minutes.
