ASHLAND — Four men are being held in the county jail after drugs and stolen property were recovered at a residence on West Fouth Street in Ashland, according to a press release from the Ashland Police Department.

Lieutenant Garry Alting stated that suspected crystal meth, suspected crack cocaine, drug abuse instruments, and drug paraphernalia were all recovered around 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday when Ashland Police assisted the Adult Parole Authority at 118 West Fourth St., apartment 12, to check on a parolee. Further investigation at the scene led police to suspected stolen property.

Police took Chad Colburn, 46, of Mansfield, Melvin Colburn, 52, and Matthew England, 31, both of Ashland, to the Ashland County jail. Both Colburns are being held on holders from Adult Parole. The case involving all three men is being presented to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.

The investigation also led police and APA to Adam Thornton, 33, of Ashland. A holder was placed on Thornton by Adult Parole. Shortly after 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Ashland Police reportedly spotted Thornton driving a vehicle in the 1000 block of Summit Drive and initiated a traffic stop. Once contacted by police, Thornton fled from the stop in his vehicle, but was apprehended in the 200 block of Plymouth Lane.

Thornton was arrested and transported to the Ashland County Jail. In addition to the APA holder, Thornton has been charged with Failure to Comply with Order or Signal of a Police Officer, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. In addition to the criminal charges, Thornton was cited for a stop-sign violation and failure to use his turn signal.
