BELLVILLE — A 10-year-old Bellville girl died Monday after she was found face down in the water while swimming at Gatton Rocks, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office.
Drowning is the suspected cause of death, according to preliminary reports.
Authorities say Kassidy Crandall, of 1270 Ohio 97 East, was swimming in a small pond off Gatton Rocks Road. A witness reported finding the girl face down “out in the middle” of the pond. The witness pulled her out of the pond and she was taken to Ohio Health Mansfield Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the incident.
