Clarence Eugene “Gene” Deal, 72, of Mansfield passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at home following an extended illness.
The son of Robert and Mary (Sanders) Deal, Gene was born Feb. 4, 1945 in Poca, West Virginia and graduated from Poca High School. Gene served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966.
Business savvy and hardworking, Gene created business opportunities in the greater Mansfield area. Over the years he was instrumental in forming and operating numerous business’s including: Robinsons Hardware in Shelby, Daddy Deal’s Restaurant, Clean Jean’s Laundry & Tanning, Star Auto Center, Miracle Car Wash, Scores Sports Bar, E-City, Premier Office Complex, and also built numerous VA Clinics throughout the state of Ohio.
He was a member of the Car Wash Association.
Gene was kind spirited and always professional. He treated everyone fairly and with great respect. Later in life he enjoyed traveling the United States in his RV.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Deal whom he married Jan. 13, 1986; children Tammy Shoemaker, of Mansfield, Pamela (Mike) Grassick, of Ontario, Vince Deal, of Mansfield, and Ryan Armstrong, of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren Tarah (Jesse) Bishop, Brandon (Kristen) Grassick, Josh (Liz) Grassick, Taylor (Jonathan) Hicks, Shashi Armstrong, Ronan Armstrong, Amanda Grassick and Michal Grassick; 13 great grandchildren; sisters Rosalie Davis, of Florida, and Della Mae Murphy, of West Virginia; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by siblings James Deal, Laura Singleton, and Betty Thornton.
A celebration of life-memorial gathering will be held Thursday evening, April 27, 2017 in the Marion Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the Deal family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Private graveside services will be held in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to Southern Care Hospice may be made through the funeral home.
