The Nord Family Foundation has awarded a $65,000 grant to Neos Dance Theatre to introduce dance activities throughout Lorain County and surrounding areas.
With this support, Neos Dance Theatre will continue to grow its programing and serve new communities.
“In our relatively brief five-year history, Neos has established positive relationships across Northern Ohio and developed major collaborations” says Neos co-founder and artistic director Bobby Wesner. “Engaging the Oberlin and Lorain County communities in this way will enable Neos Dance Theatre to harness the knowledge and expertise of our professional artists and serve the region with greater performance-based and educational programming then ever before.”
As a major first step this summer, Neos and the Oberlin College dance department will host the fourth annual Oberlin Dance Intensive July 24-29 on campus. Online registration is now available at www.neosdancetheatre.org/oberlin .
After Labor Day, Neos will begin teaching community classes in the Oberlin Center for the Arts. President Marvin Krislov of Oberlin College explains that the longtime relationship between Neos and the Oberlin dance department will help to reach new goals for the Oberlin Center for the Arts. “We are thrilled to welcome Neos Dance Theatre to Oberlin,” he says. “Their high quality and innovative spirit will enrich our strong arts community and offer further opportunities for collaboration.”
On July 29, Neos will present a free family-friendly performance in Oberlin’s Tappan Square. Neos will also present A 1940’s Nutcracker at Stocker Arts Center December 15-17. Local participants will be encouraged to audition at a later date.
New and interested students, patrons, and dance lovers can sign up online to receive information and enrollment opportunities at www.neosdancetheatre.org. Printed informational materials will be available soon at the Oberlin Center for the Arts, 39 South Main Street Suite 315, Oberlin, Ohio 44074.
