SHELBY, Ohio — The season may be over, but the top girls basketball players in the area will gather for one last hurrah Sunday at Shelby High School.

The fourth Shelby Rotary NCO Girls All-Star Classic begins with the Underclass Showcase at 4 p.m. followed by the Senior All-Star Game at 6 p.m.

“This is an excellent opportunity for these young ladies to celebrate their high school careers and play with the best in our district, the Northwest District and even the state,” said Shelby coach Natalie Lantz, who organized the event along with Wynford’s Amy Taylor Sheldon. “Division II, Division III and NAIA colleges have been invited for the opportunity to watch and recruit some of our area’s and the state’s finest young talent.”

Taylor Sheldon and Norwalk’s Brock Manlet will coach the Underclass Showcase. Shelby’s Bailey Walter, Ontario’s Na’Shail Shelby, St. Peter’s Sydney Cavanaugh, Mansfield Senior’s Talayzha Catchings and Crestview’s Jaqueline Baith will all suit up for the underclassman game.

Mansfield Christian’s J.R. Wilson and Buckeye Central’s Greg Moore will work the bench for the Senior All-Star Game. Area players include Shelby’s Kennadie Goth, Jackie Garrett and Maddi Fidler, St. Peter’s Autumn Scodova and Carolyn Blunk, Mansfield Christian’s Allie Mayer, Ontario’s Emily Yeager and Ashland’s Katie Kennedy.

There will be a girls 3-point shooting competition, a dunk contest by District 6 boys and a skills competition pairing District 6 boys and girls in a shooting, dribbling and passing relay race.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors. There will be a $2 discount for fans who donate a new or gently used children’s book to Richland New Hope’s Big Red Book Shelf
