MANSFIELD — J.P. Pocosk has spent the past four years learning and mastering CrossFit.
Now he has taken over at 67 N. Main St., the former Fitness Factory CrossFit gym.
Pocosk has an impressive athletic history. He wields 15 years of international Mixed Martial Art experience as a fighter and/or coach. Two of his fights wound up on international Pay-Per-View.
He got into his new fitness endeavor after it was recommended by one of his fighters in Thailand.
“He told me about it, and thought I’d be into it,” Pocosk said. “I did a little of the movements to train for MMA, but didn’t really get into it until about 2010.”
For the past three years, the new owner and his wife were Cross-Fit trainers at Fitness Factory. Now the fitness facility, CrossFit Katana is all his.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity,” he said.
Pocosk will host a public event March 24 at 5:30 p.m. to celebrate his four years in the building, but also as an attraction to help one of his trainees, John Fuller, compete for a spot in a world CrossFit tournament.
“Hopefully he gets in and people who come can say they saw him qualify,” he said.
