Frances Elaine Dyer, 90, of Galion, died Saturday, March 18, 2017.

In spite of her many illnesses, Frances had a goal of living to age 90 and exceeded this goal by one month and six days.

Frances was born in Bellaire, OH on Feb. 12, 1927 to the late Terrence and Neva (Board) Plunkett. She married James Dyer on July 27, 1954 and he is still living.

She was a graduate of Cleveland Bible College (now Malone University), and received a Bachelor’s of Theology Degree. Following graduation, she was called to preach the Word of God. Frances had experience in her younger years working in hospitals as a nurse’s aide (that’s what they were called back then).

Miss Frances, as a close friend Randi calls her, was an excellent cook and baker in her healthier years. She was very giving and if you left her home hungry it was your own fault.

She always looked around to see if she could send you home with something, even if it was a box of Kleenex. She loved giving to Christian hunger organizations and to missionaries sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Well known by all as a feisty woman, one never had to question “what did she mean by that”. Every once in a while a quick wit, dry sense of humor comment would spring forth. Many are unaware that Frances used to sing and play piano and guitar without reading notes.

Frances was a “prayer warrior” and if God placed you on her heart to pray, she never gave up praying for you. She loved reading the Word of God.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, she is survived by her son, Philip (Shirley) Dyer, of Warren; her daughter, Sharon (Tim) Grimes, of Bucyrus; her grandson, Michael (Brooke) Dyer, of Cortland; and several nieces and nephews.

The youngest of nine children, Frances was preceded in death by siblings

Mary Margaret, Lula, Thelma, Herbert, Marge, Violet, John and Betty.

Friends may call Friday, March 24, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N., Galion.
