Rosie Nell Porter, 75, passed this life on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Riverside Hospital, Columbus after an extended illness.

Mrs. Porter was born Saturday, March 14, 1942 to the late Lorenzo and Sarah (Harrison) Sherrod Sr. in Columbus, Mississippi and had been a resident of the Mansfield community for the past 50 years. Rosie was a former employee of the Comfort Inn and a member of the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Rosie is survived by two daughters Melissa Porter-Kelly and Cynthia Porter, Columbus: three sons Thomas (Tammy) Porter Jr., Gahanna, Isaac (Rhonda) Porter, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Rickey Porter, Mansfield; two sisters: Queen Vaughn, of Mansfield and Lillie Sherrod, of Columbus: four brothers James Sherred and J. T. Harrison, of Mansfield, John L. Sherred, of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Lorenzo (Joy) Sherred Jr., of Port Clinton; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Sr.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church by pastor Rev. Dr. Derek Williams. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 10 a.m. till time of service. Interment will be in Mansfield Cemetery.
