MANSFIELD — Mother Nature isn’t through with winter yet as snow showers sweep through the area Tuesday, March 14.
According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected through Wednesday, especially in the snowbelt.
Mansfield’s afternoon forecast calls for mostly cloudy, with a high near 24, and blustery, with a north wind around 21 mph and gusts as high as 31 mph. The chance of precipitation is 20 percent.
There is a chance of snow showers tonight. Forecasters predict mostly cloudy, with a low around 12, wind chill values as low as -2 and northwest wind 13 to 16 mph. The chance of precipitation is 50 percent, with new snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
North central Ohio saw steady, moderate snow early this morning.
The National Weather Service forecast up to two inches of additional accumulation in the region this afternoon, especially across Ashland and Wayne counties.
Several lake-effect snow bands are expected to develop and continue into Wednesday morning. Very heavy snow is possible within these bands, and they may extend well into the secondary snowbelt. These bands will be very narrow in nature, so not everyone will be affected equally, the National Weather Service stated.
Strong and gusty northerly winds will cause areas of blowing and drifting snow.
A winter weather advisory for Ashland, Wayne and Stark counties remains in effect until 8 p.m. tomorrow. A winter storm warning for Crawford County also remains in effect until 8 p.m. tomorrow.
Residents are reminded that a winter weather advisory for snow is issued when moderate amounts of accumulating snow will cause travel difficulties, and a winter storm warning for heavy snow is issued when severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring.
Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities.
