Enid Miller, 82, of Mansfield passed away Tuesday, March 7, 2017 in Jacksonville, Florida, where she had been a resident the past five years.
She was born Nov. 9, 1934, in Lexington, Ohio, to the late Donald and Naomi (Fuhrer) Cordrey.
A loving wife and mother, she graciously followed her husband across the country as their life brought new opportunities. It was a perfect match to her love of traveling.
Enid was formerly employed as a switchboard operator and built the first integrated phone boards for AT&T implemented at five different locations throughout the United States. She worked in many different locations in the country for the telephone industry.
Intelligent, skilled, driven, and focused on being the best she could possibly be were qualities that described Enid.
With an insatiable desire to keep learning new skills and professions, Enid became a master barber and beautician. Later in life, she became a licensed massage therapist. Through God’s gift of healing touch, she was able to bring relief to others.
Lifelong learning and education were keys to her life. However, to Enid, her most important job was being a wife and mother and she was the best.
Enid was a joyful Christian woman and was a member of Illinois Avenue Apostolic Christian Church. Modeling God’s love for others, she brought joy to the lives of many through her musical talents. Enid played numerous instruments and always made time for others. Even as she experienced physical pain, it did not stop her from being a wonderful example of a servant of the Lord.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Don Miller; sons, Brad Miller and Don (Martha) Miller; daughter, Robin (Clarence) Ebert; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Enid was preceded in death by two brothers.
A graveside service will be held Monday, March 13, 2017, at 2 p.m. in Lantz Cemetery, Mansfield, Ohio. Private family visitation will be held at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors.
