Loudonville High School

LOUDONVILLE — Congratulations to each of three choirs (Men’s Ensemble, Class C; Symphonic Mixed SATB, Class A, and Sweet 16 Chamber Women, Class A), who all received superior ratings March 4 at the OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association Large Group District Competition).

The choirs will advance to OMEA State Competition in April. This is the ninth state qualifying choir at Loudonville High School in the last five years.

In order to advance to state competition choirs MUST achieve a Superior rating and are evaluated by a series of three floor judges and one site reading judge who have successful records of District and State competition and years of directing experience.

This could have not been possible without School Administration and Community Support. Teacher and Director, Michael Snyder would like to thank all of the following who made this possible:

Administration for approving two full emersion days of master classes, the Loudonville Music Booster, clinicians, and rehearsals; and the Loudonville community at large, New Hope Church for allowing usage of their facility for rehearsal space, the following community music professionals: Marilyn Kohler, Director of Music, Zion Lutheran Church, Loudonville; Jennifer Lavinder Carroll, rehearsal coach and accompanist; Jedidiah McFadden, Loudonville Senior Student, Violin; Clinicians: Dr. Ron Blackley, Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities, Ashland University and Dr. Lisa Wong, Associate Professor of Music, College of Wooster, Assistant Director of Choruses (Cleveland Orchestra) and Director of the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus. Our students displayed, professionalism, poise, and academic success at these competitions, where they perform amongst other top-rated schools and choral programs.

Only a small percentage of choirs achieve superior ratings and advance to OMEA State competition. This is a task that is highly academic and requires a high level of dedication and commitment to music terminology and language, theory, understanding, artistry, and performance.

Students who participate, include the following: Cade Beachler, Hannah Brightbill, Madison Carey, Sarah Carroll, William Carroll, Makyra Carson, Chelsea Chen, Morgan Geyer, Carolyn Glaser, Laine Heffelfinger, Jon Herman, Dakota Hinkle, Emma Hinkle, Gwyneth Hollenbach, Schuyler Hollenbach, Isaac Kaiser, Saylor Lewis, Gavin MacIntire, Cameron MacQueen, Olivia MacQueen, Lydia Nall, Justin Pryor, Seth Rhodes, Bailey Snyder, Caleb Syler, Brooklyn Williams, Casey Wilson, Gaven Wiredu, Trenton Wiredu, Jocelyn Young, and Austin Zody.
