Devin B. Thompson, 30, recently of Galion and previously of Shelby passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 4, 2017 at home.
Born Jan. 19, 1987 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee, he was the son of Beulah (Newberry) and Larry Hartge Jr., of Galion, and Kenneth (Hope) Mollett, of Cardington.
Devin had a kind heart and always wanted to help others even though he struggled with many demons of his own. Always quick with a joke or comeback, his smile could light up a room and his sense of humor was infectious. He enjoyed playing and writing music. He played bass previously for several area bands. Devin especially loved spending time with his daughters.
In addition to his parents he is survived by the “loves of his life,” his daughters Kyrsten Hamilton, Aubrey Thompson and Ella Thompson, all of Shelby; siblings Aaron (Amber) Thompson, of Shelby, Stephanie (Patrick) Burkhart, of Shelby, and Larry Hartge III, of Mansfield, Amanda (Ira) Burns, of Caledonia, Sharon Stamper, of Mansfield, Brittany Mollett, of Cardington, Farrah Adkins-Mansfield, Abigail Mollett, Ken Mollett and Makenna Mollett, all of Cardington; maternal grandparents James and Beulah Newberry, of Galion; step grandfather Larry Hartge Sr., of Mansfield; Claude and Kathy Mollett-paternal grandparents.
He was preceded in death by step-grandmother Sharon Hartge; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday March 11, 2017 at Elm Street Freewill Baptist Church, 41 Elm Street, Shelby, Ohio, 44875.
Memorial contributions may be made to Devin’s mother, Beulah Hartge, to go to his daughter’s trust funds.
