Polly H. Earick, 70, died Friday February 24, 2017 peacefully at home in Mansfield, Ohio after her 13 year fight with cancer.
Polly was born on November 23, 1946 in Cleveland Ohio to Donald and Margaret (Newell) Harbaugh. She grew up in Lakewood, Ohio in the Clifton Park neighborhood enjoying clambakes, beach picnics, gardening with her father, and wonderful friends. Polly graduated from Rocky River High School in 1964.
While attending Wittenberg University she met her loving husband of 47 years, Eugene Earick. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Education and went on to teach in the Columbus City Schools and Mansfield City Schools (West Fifth Elementary).
Polly used to volunteer at the Mansfield Art Center, planning the Fine Arts Balls and working in the soup kitchen. Her 20 some years volunteering at MedCentral Hospital is still recounted by employees and patients she compassionately worked with. She was also involved with her local Delta Gamma Sorority group and garden club. Her happiest spot was always on the beach in Siesta Key, Florida.
Perhaps Polly’s greatest joy was her working at Lakewood Racquet Club for over 25 years, where she will always be remembered as a smiling face to greet you and the person everyone loved to talk to. Polly will always be known for her endless warmth, her laugh, her love of life and animals and her ability to shed a special light on all she touched.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents Donald L Harbaugh and Margaret N. Harbaugh; her brother David N Harbaugh; and her grandson Lucien A. Earick.
Polly is survived by her husband Eugene P. Earick; her daughter Jennifer Taylor (Josh) and their children Owen, Nathan, and Polly of Mansfield, Ohio; her son Rodney Earick (Kimberly) and their children Carter, Brody, and Lola, of Mansfield, Ohio; her sister Susan H Davis of Forest Hills, Arizona; her nieces and nephews Arthur Davis, Scott Davis, Daniel Harbaugh, Molly Mitchell and Cherie’ Oliver-Larson; and her special companion kitty Bernie.
