Marlene Jane Durkin peacefully passed away Sunday evening, Feb. 26, 2017 in her Mansfield home. She was 79.
Marlene was born Dec. 10, 1937 to parents James and Dorothy (Fuhrer) Durkin in Mansfield. She was graduated from Union High School with the class of 1955 and went on to attend Ohio University.
Marlene worked 20 years in the Tappan office and finished her career with Wright Audiology.
In spare time, she took pleasure in playing guitar and singing. Marlene enjoyed roses and loved dogs very much — especially Pomeranians. She formerly visited nursing homes to bring cheer to others. Marlene was a member of Ontario Christian Fellowship since 1967.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law Richard and Evie Durkin, of Huron; sister Judy Custer, of St. Louis, Missouri; brother-in-law Dr. Robert Fidler, of Huron; nine nieces and nephews; along with cousins and a large extended family.
In addition to her loving parents, Marlene was preceded in death by a sister Gloria Fidler and a brother-in-law Ted Custer.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2017 at Ontario Christian Fellowship (636 Lexington-Springmill Rd. in Mansfield) and friends are invited to call 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Jim Haring will officiate and burial will follow at Lantz Cemetery in Mansfield.
