Duane E. McQuate, 86, of Dunedin, Florida, and Benton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Feb. 13, 2017 at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Florida.

He was a former resident of both Mansfield and Ashland, Ohio. Duane was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Ashland, Ohio, to Donald and Bertha (Fry) McQuate.

Duane was an Air Force veteran, lifelong Christian, and devoted decades to General Motors, where he retired. He always knew what the grandkids were doing, what sport season it was for them, what hobbies they were involved in, never missed a birthday and was always in touch. A life well lived and we will miss him!

He was preceded in death just two years and one week earlier, by his beloved wife, Mary P. McQuate. Surviving are his four children, Craig (Mary Ellen) McQuate, of North Andover, Massachusetts, Kristina Blanchard of Holt, Michigan, Valerie (Don) Miller, of Mason, Ohio, and Douglas McQuate. Duane was a loving grandfather to five grandsons, one granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in Mansfield at a date to be announced later. Those planning an expression of sympathy may make a memorial contribution to Suncoast Hospice Care Center, 164 West Lake Rd., Palm Harbor, Florida, 34684. The Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is assisting the family.
