Alice C. Utter, 90, of Galion passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at Mill Creek Nursing & Rehabilitation in Galion.

She was born March 24, 1926 in Wabash, Indiana and was the daughter of Arthur V. and Alice (York) Correll. On Aug. 26, 1946 she married Robert L. Utter and they enjoyed 49 years of marriage until his passing on Feb. 2, 1996.

Alice retired after working as a home care nurse for many years. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and devoted grandmother. Alice enjoyed flower gardening, camping and mushroom hunting in Ohio and Michigan. She never met a stranger and loved old classic country music. Alice cherished the many family reunions where all her family would play various instruments. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and the AMVETS 1979 ladies auxiliary of Galion.

Alice is survived by children Robert Lee (Kerry) Utter Jr., of Berlin Heights, Brenda Taylor, of Galion, and Linda (Ted) Reece, of Mt. Gilead; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister Georgie Miller, of Oklahoma, and her companion for 20 years whom she made her home with, Kent Jones.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son David A. Utter; a grandson; a sister and eight brothers.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 in Shauck Cemetery in Johnsville with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crawford County Humane Society in care of the funeral home.
