Mary Florence “Flo” Dawe, 81, of Loudonville died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 at the home of her daughter.
Flo was born Dec. 31, 1934 in Sydney, Nova Scotia and was one of four daughters of the late Thomas and Bridget Baker.
Growing up in Nova Scotia, she moved with her husband, the late Robert F. Dawe, to Cleveland in 1961. Following many summers camping at Charles Mill Lake they moved to the Mifflin area in 1991 and she worked at the campground for many years before moving to Loudonville two years ago.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church of Cleveland and was a former member of the Mifflin Lioness Club. While growing up in Nova Scotia she enjoyed winter sports, especially ice skating, where she ultimately competed in speed skating and continued to enjoy skating throughout her life. She also enjoyed bowling and flower gardening.
Flo is survived by two daughters: Nadine (Richard) Kepoo, of Loudonville, and Joy (Greg) Muffler, of Raleigh, North Carolina; four grandchildren: Johnny and Alexis Boyer, and Nicole and Sydney Muffler. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three sisters.
A funeral mass and interment will be held in St. Raphael Catholic Church, Raleigh, North Carolina on Dec. 21 at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Rd., Mt. Vernon, Ohio 43050.
